You already know, windshield wipers have one purpose and that is to go back and forth, back and forth every time Mother Nature decides to direct a rain or snow storm towards your area. Seeing what they do each day there is rain, snow or bugs, it’s really no wonder why they get worn out.
Unfortunately, unlike tires, windshield wipers there is no indicator showing that it’s time to replace them, so how are you supposed to know when you need to make a trip to the local auto parts store.
Here Are A Few Signs You Need New Windshield Wipers :
If at any time you are struggling to see through the rain, sleet, or snow while your windshield wipers are on, it’s likely a sign that you need replacement blades.
While that was the most obvious reason you need new wipers, there are some of the less obvious signs of windshield wiper wear.
- A chattering, noisy sound when your wipers are running. Unless you’re using your wipers in a dry environment (which you shouldn’t be), they should be quiet for the most part. If you begin hearing a chattering or thumping noise coming from your windshield, it likely means that your blades are worn out or are popping on and off of the surface of the windshield. Either way, if you’re hearing a noise, they’re not operating properly.
- The rubber “blade” has begun splitting into separate sections or has been detached from the wiper arm. If this is the case, your wipers will probably be making a slapping noise against your windshield.
- A streaky or hazy windshield is never a good sign. If your wipers are in good condition, they should be clearing any type of precipitation from your windshield, offering ideal clarity without leaving streaks behind.
Windshield wipers are a quick and easy upgrade that will significantly improve not only your safety, but the safety of other drivers.
With wiper blades coming at such a relatively low cost, there’s absolutely no excuse for imperfect vision.
