Welcome to The Car Husband blog : Your one-stop resource for navigating the confusing world of all things automotive.
You might be asking where this name originated : “The Car Husband“. So let me begin with a little background.
My name is Dan Adema; and I have been in the automotive industry for over 38 years, and have had a love of cars since I can remember.
I have been an ASE Certified Master Mechanic, AAA-approved automotive repair-shop owner, and have overseen a large municipal fleet.
While operating my automotive repair shop, 50% of our business came from women; a good portion of them being single.
So, while attending Church one Sunday, Lisa — one of my customers — approached me with a car question. After answering, she said “it’s so nice having someone I can trust. Since I don’t have a husband, you’re going to be my car husband”. And that is where it all started.
It’s a fact that women are one of the most powerful and growing segment of the automotive industry.
Hence The Car Husband informative blog
So, take a look around. Here, I strive to provide useful and timely information to take some of the anxiety out of all things automotive,
and if needed, your on-call car husband.
Considering there are some 800,000 auto mechanics in the US — i.e. about merely one for every 316 cars — it makes sense that most drivers don’t know much about cars.
Unfortunately, dishonest mechanics might exploit that inexperience, overcharging for auto repairs, or suggesting unnecessary and expensive services, to name a few.
So, don’t hesitate to contact me as your on-call car husband.
